How To Measure Life...
But what’s even more amazing is the growth this board can’t track.
Like the responsibility of applying for and getting a first job, showing up on time every work day, and saving half of each check.
Or overcoming difficulty taking tests and figuring out a way to study that works.
Or building friendships that will last a lifetime.
Or running errands without being asked when the house runs out of milk, whether that’s driving or walking to Walgreens, just to help out at home.
The list could go on and on. Every day they are growing and it’s not just inches: it’s in responsibility and love and knowledge and life.
While someday (a longgggg time from now) maybe we will be measuring grandkids on it, it will always remind me that numbers aren’t a necessary measurement of success. Some of the most incredible things our children achieve are outside of test scores and inches tall and minutes played. Success is measured by all of the amazing things our kids accomplish as they mature into capable and smart young people with kind hearts and a strong sense of self.
